The
Joe Girard story began in Worcester, Massachusetts,
in the mid
40’s. Joe was surrounded by both love and music, having Italian
parents who loved popular music, and an uncle who loved semi
classical music and opera.
The influence of his family spawned his lifelong interest
in jazz music and his passion for singing and tasting the pleasure of
performing in front of an audience as an entertainer. First
it was the pleasure of entertaining his parents at family gatherings
singing songs such as Night and Day, Mona Lisa, Young at Heart
and Strangers in Paradise as well as his Italian Uncle's favorites
like Sorrento and O Solo Mio.
Joe attended college at Northeastern University and studied
voice at the Berklee College of Music where he learned the
Sinatra method of breathing which prepared him for his
future music endeavors as a vocalist recording commercials, songs
he composed, touring with dance bands, and entertaining at
college concerts and night clubs.
In
the early 60’s, popular music was changing and Joe decided to
pursue a career in broadcasting and entertainment.
Today, as President of JEMI Enterprises, Inc., he consults for
entertainment companies but continues his singing career performing
all across the
country. He performs several shows including tributes to great
artists and composers. A versatile vocalist and song stylist, Joe's
repertoire includes his tributes to such popular singers including
Sinatra,
Tony
Bennett,
Vic Damone and Barbra Streisand
